Sicilian religious and founder of the Capuchin Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Lourdes, María de Jesús Santocanale left the privileges of a noble family to become poor among the poor.
Biography
For years he catechized and visited homes in Cinisi, caring for children, the sick and women in need. After overcoming family opposition, he embraced Franciscan spirituality and gathered a community to sustain the mission. From the Eucharist she gained strength for a tender and demanding spiritual motherhood. His work united education, assistance and family closeness.
