María Dolores Rodríguez Sopeña (1848–1918)
Founding catechist
Spanish laywoman and founder, María Dolores Rodríguez Sopeña dedicated her life to the evangelization and promotion of the poorest workers.
Biography
From a young age he visited the sick, prisons and marginalized neighborhoods, both in Spain, Puerto Rico and Cuba. He created instruction centers where workers and families received human, professional and Christian training, seeking to overcome social barriers through friendship. He founded the Dolores Sopeña Catechist Institute and an association of lay people to support the work. His ideal was to make everyone one family in Christ.
