Maria Eutimia Üffing (1914–1955)

German nun and nurse, Maria Eutimia Üffing served the sick and prisoners with particular tenderness during the Second World War.

Biography

In fragile health since she was a child, she learned to carry out the most humble jobs without complaints. She joined the Sisters of Compassion and worked in hospitals, where she was commissioned to care for prisoners of war of various nationalities. He cared for them without discrimination, providing food, medicine and spiritual comfort. After the war he accepted simple services in the community laundry. He died of cancer, leaving behind a reputation for joy, silence and daily charity.
