Maria Fortunata Viti (1827–1922)

Italian Benedictine, María Fortunata Viti achieved sainthood through more than seventy years of humble and hidden work.
Biography
Orphaned by her mother at the age of fourteen, she took care of eight siblings and worked as a domestic worker in the face of her father's poverty and alcoholism. At the age of twenty-four he entered the Veroli monastery. Since he could not read or write, he served his entire life sewing, washing and mending. In the midst of spiritual aridity he turned each repetitive task into obedient prayer. She died at the age of ninety-five, unknown to the world.
