Co-founder of the Sisters of Saint Elizabeth and called the "Samaritan of Silesia", Maria Luisa Merkert organized the care of poor sick people in their own homes.
Biography
Orphaned by her father since she was a child, she learned an active faith from her mother. Together with her sister Matilde and other companions, in 1842 she began to visit houses, obtain medicine and ask for alms for the needy. Although he received hospital training, he defended the charisma of caring for those who were abandoned at home. As the first superior general, she extended the work with prudence, joy and trust in the Sacred Heart.
