María Rafols (1781–1835)
Founding religious
In the act of beatification of Mother María Rafols, John Paul II said: In Blessed María Rafols we contemplate the action of God who makes the humble young woman a heroine of charity who left her home in Vilafranca del Penedés (Spain) and, in the company of a priest and other girls, begins a path of service to the sick, following Christ, and giving, like him, “her life as a ransom for many.” The congregation of Sisters of Charity of Saint Anne, founded by María Rafols, today is spread across five continents and in 30 countries, serving God in the suffering members of his mystical body.
Practical advice
When you begin your work, offer a small delicacy to the Virgin and try to imitate her availability and also take care of the small details.
