Maria Theresa Bonzel (1830–1905)
Franciscan nun
Despite family opposition, Maria Teresa Bonzel embraced Franciscan spirituality and founded the Poor Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration.
Biography
The community began in a rented room and dedicated itself to orphans, the sick and the poor, sustaining the action with Eucharistic adoration. Under his direction it spread throughout Germany and America. María Teresa combined organizational capacity and maternal tenderness, without forgetting that the work belonged to God. When she died, hundreds of sisters were already serving in dozens of houses.
Practical advice
Before organizing help, take a moment to pray and then ask what the person really needs, not what you would like to give them.
