Mariano de Roccacasale (1778–1866)
Franciscan religious
An Italian Franciscan brother, Mariano de Roccacasale went from a youth as a poor shepherd to a long life of prayer, hospitality and peace.
Biography
In the convent he served mainly as a doorkeeper, respectfully receiving pilgrims, the poor, and people seeking advice. He listened to their sorrows, shared what he had, and then presented their needs in long hours of Eucharistic adoration. Its simplicity turned the door of the convent into a place of welcome where many recovered serenity and hope.
