February 14
Brown (+410)
Hermit
Saint Marón (+410) Anchorite who lived about ten kilometers northeast of ancient Apamea.
Biography
The Mar Merún monastery was built over his tomb. The faithful in the surrounding area were called Maronites and continued to be known by that name when they had to flee to the mountains of Lebanon for fear of persecution by Jacobites and Muslims. The Maronite Catholic Church today has one and a half million faithful, divided halfway between Lebanon, on the one hand, and America and Australia, on the other.
Practical advice
As soon as you have the opportunity, calmly defend a truth that others prefer to keep silent about, putting the result in the hands of God.
