Martha Le Bouteiller (1816–1883)
Lasallian nun
A French peasant and domestic worker, Aimée-Adèle Le Bouteiller entered the Sisters of the Christian Schools of Mercy and received the name Martha.
Biography
At the abbey of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte he served for decades in the kitchen, the garden, the pantry and in caring for the animals. He prudently administered the scarce resources of a community that was going through hunger and reconstruction, always trusting in Providence. She did not hold visible positions, but her joy, prayer, and industriousness sustained the educational mission of her sisters. He sanctified the material work that makes the apostolate of others possible.
Practical advice
