Biography
During the 16th century and the following, the people of Vietnam heard the evangelical message, preached, first of all, by missionaries belonging to different religious Orders. The Vietnamese people receive the preaching of the missionaries with great piety and joy. But persecution soon ensued. During the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, many Vietnamese were martyred, including bishops, priests, men and women religious, catechists of both sexes, and lay men and women from different social conditions.
