Miguel Febres Cordero (1854–1910)

San Miguel Febres Cordero (1854-1910) He was born in Cuenca, Ecuador and was the first to request admission as a religious when the Brothers of the Christian Schools settled there.
Biography
For forty years he carried out a prodigious and beneficial activity, teaching in Quito, writing school manuscripts that became classics in all Spanish-speaking countries, as well as simple and enjoyable books to give Christian formation to people. He was expelled from his homeland by anticlerical rulers and sent by his superiors to work in various countries in Europe. He died holy in Barcelona, and his relics were sent to Ecuador, where a monument was erected to this great educator at the foot of Mount Cebollar, near Quito. Canonized on October 21, 1984.
