Miguel Garicoïts (1797–1863)

Basque by origin, Miguel was born, lived and died in the diocese of Bayonne, France, and is considered an emulator in holiness of his contemporary the priest of Ars.
Biography
He had been a servant in the house of a priest and later with the bishop of Bayonne, his main occupation was walking the dog of an elderly canon. Ordained priest in 1832, professor at the major seminary and school director, around 1832 he founded the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Betharram, dedicated to the apostolate. This institution has been in charge, for more than half a century, of training the clergy of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. In 1983, there were three bishops and eighty priests.
