Miguel Kozal (1893–1943)
Martyr
Auxiliary bishop of Włocławek and martyr of Nazism, Miguel Kozal remained with his people during the invasion of Poland.
Biography
He protested the abuses against the Church and was arrested with numerous priests. Finally deported to Dachau, he endured humiliation, labor and illness, while encouraging other prisoners and forgiving his persecutors. After contracting typhus, he was murdered by lethal injection on January 26, 1943. His episcopal fidelity showed that a shepherd does not abandon his flock when danger arrives.
