Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Blessed Virgin
The Church invites us today to celebrate the birth of the Virgin Mary, with these words: "Let us celebrate with joy the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, from whom Christ, our God and Savior, was born." In fact, there is no better way to celebrate Mary than to prostrate before her Son.
Biography
And the reason for this is that the Son of Mary, without ceasing to be True Man, is at the same time, the Son of the Eternal Father, and therefore, God of God, Light of Light. Those who do not contemplate the Son of Mary in this way cannot grasp the treasures of grace and love that are contained in this Marian feast. The birth of Mary announces to the world the joy of the arrival of the Redeemer of each and every one of us. For just as the sun not only illuminates the entire earth, but also each of its inhabitants, so the light of redemption anticipates illuminating the Virgin, who was born to make the blessings of her anticipated redemption reverberate over the world, as "Mother of the Redeemer" and Intercessor and Mediatrix of all graces. What a supernatural atmosphere of peace and light, of grace and blessing surrounds this glorious festival of the birth of Mary! Truly, She is for the sons and daughters of Adam, the Dawn of our redemption and our elevation to the supernatural plane. Joy overflows in the Christian soul that glimpses, through faith, the glory of the Lord in the birth of the Virgin, and the innumerable benefits that we receive without ceasing from the Virgin Mother of God. How would we have behaved if we had been able to choose our mother? I think we would have chosen the one we have, filling her with all the graces. That is what Christ did: being Omnipotent, Most Wise and the same Love, his power fulfilled all his will. Theologians have frequently made a similar argument. They say: it was convenient, God could do it, then he did it. It is the clearest explanation of why the Lord granted his Mother, from the first moment of her immaculate conception, all privileges. (Blessed Josemaría Escrivá) Let us then sing with the Church: "Let us celebrate with joy the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, so that she may intercede for us before Jesus Christ, the Lord."
Practical advice
Today, in the presence of God, slowly pray a mystery of the Rosary for a need in your family, putting the result in God's hands.
