Nicholas Barré (1621–1686)
Missionary religious
He was born in Amiens, France, and soon discovered his vocation for the priesthood.
Biography
He became a religious member of one of the most austere orders of the time: the Minims, a congregation founded by San Francisco de Paula. His greatest work was the founding of the Sisters of the Child Jesus, who are dedicated to teaching in small schools scattered throughout rural areas to welcome the poorest. He wants his work to be based exclusively on God, refusing to financially secure his future. Her work endures today, having acquired different forms that attempt to respond, from the diverse situations of the sisters, to the needs of today's man. Nicolás Barré, missionary mystic, who abandons his life totally in God with an effective abandonment that generates total trust and commitment to the weak, died on May 31, 1686 and was elevated to the category of blessed on March 7, 1999.
