Biography

Born in Germany. From a wealthy family, he planned to dedicate himself to a comfortable life, without spiritual aspirations. Everything indicated a glorious future for this young man who attracted attention for his physical beauty, but above all for his intelligence and kindness. Knocked off a horse by lightning, he realizes that he could have died and thinks about the grace of God that has saved him from going to hell. This happens and changes his life. He travels to Rome where he confesses his sins to Pope Gelasius II and tells him of his desire to dedicate himself to preaching conversion and penance. In a place called “Premonstré” he founded the “Premonstratensians”. He died in Magdeburg where he was Archbishop. Authentic conversion passes through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
