Our Lady of Fátima
Blessed Virgin Mary
In 1917, at Cova da Iria near Fátima, Portugal, the Virgin Mary appeared to the shepherd children Lucia dos Santos and Francisco and Jacinta Marto.
Biography
Her message called for conversion, prayer—especially the Rosary—penance, and trust in God’s mercy. She asked the children to offer sacrifices for sinners and for peace in the world. The apparitions directed attention not toward curiosity but toward the Gospel: repentance, fidelity, and love. The Church approved the devotion, and Fátima became a place where millions seek reconciliation with God and entrust the needs of the Church and the world to Mary’s intercession.
Practical advice
When you have the opportunity, give up a comfort in order to remain faithful to your conscience, remembering that holiness is built in ordinary life.
