Our Lady of Sorrows
Blessed Virgin
Mary suffered intensely at the foot of the cross, alongside her Son; Each of the nails tore her mother's Heart.
Biography
The Church, upon contemplating Mary in pain today at the foot of the cross, exclaims: "Oh Sweet Source of Love, make me feel your pain so that I may cry with you." Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, is a source of love, most pure and holy, selfless and sublime; and for that reason he suffers to the depths of his being. He has loved us, his sinful children, so much that he makes all our pain his own, just as Christ on the cross makes all our sins his own. All men are in solidarity with each other: our good is the good of all and our evil affects everyone. Jesus Christ demonstrates this in his Passion, suffering for all men; María, his mother, indicates it, associating herself with her son's pain. Our subtle selfishness opposes this providential law of solidarity; That is why it is urgent that we approach this Mother of pain, source of love without selfishness, to grasp the true mystery of pain. That is why when the Church asks him to make us feel the force of pain, to associate us with his pain, he adds: "Make my heart burn with the love of Christ God." This is what we all need: a lot of fervor to love Christ, as She loved Him; deep love to penetrate to his Divine Heart; immense love to make their pains ours, as She made Christ's pains and ours her own. But above all, we must contemplate Christ as God. If we do not look at it this way, we will never be able to understand the mystery and reality of the pain that tears apart human existence. What can the man of our days do, on the outside so jealous of his modernity, and on the inside so full of fears and anguish? Let him turn to the Mother of Mercy and love: to Mary, who for the deep pains she suffered, is always the Mother of goodness and grace, who will always be ready to welcome us maternally with mercy, to free us from dangers and take us to the loving heart of her Son.
