July 4
Our Lady of Refuge
Blessed Virgin
The image of Our Lady of the Refuge is a copy, made in 1709, of the famous image of Our Lady of the Holm Oak, which is venerated in Poggio Prato (Italy).
Biography
It was ordered to be made by Blessed Antonio Baldinucci, to take with him on his missions. This copy instilled great fervor in the crowds and caused the conversion of numerous sinners, which is why it began to be given the title "Refuge of sinners." He was granted the pontifical coronation on July 4, 1719. It is currently preserved in Frascatti. In the same 18th century, several copies of that image were brought to Mexico, which also greatly influenced the apostolic work of the missionaries here, for the conversion of countless sinners. Let us ask Our Lady of the Refuge today on this holiday to be favored with her maternal protection; May we receive forgiveness for our sins and through his intercession help us foster love and holiness in our homes for each of the members of our families, so that one day we can enjoy eternal life.
