Olaf (995–1030)
Martyr
At the age of fourteen he had joined one of the bands of Normans who, for centuries, made plundering expeditions throughout France.
Biography
It is said that during one of these raids he received baptism. He was king of Norway at the age of twenty-one and made Christianity the state religion, which provoked the rise of supporters of the old cult. He perished in the battle at Stiklestad on August 31, 1030. His heroic death at the age of thirty erased his previous life of cruelty and debauchery and he is venerated as a martyr. Numerous churches were dedicated to him, and he has remained the national hero of independent Norway.
Practical advice
When collecting your heart in silence, avoid criticism and speak with charity about those who have hurt you and also take care of the small details.
