Pacific (+1230)
Franciscan religious
He was a famous Italian troubadour, nicknamed “the King of verse”, after the emperor had crowned him on the Capitol as “the Prince of poets”.
Biography
He was converted at the age of fifty when he heard a sermon from Saint Francis. He received him among his own and in 1217 sent him to establish the Order in Paris. Returning to Italy, Pacífico was appointed visitor to the Poor Clares. Pacífico gave the first hearing of the Canticle of the Sun that the Poverello had just composed, before the mayor and the bishop who had a big dispute between them. Upon reaching the words: “Praise you, Lord, for those who forgive and persevere in peace, because through you, O Most High!, they will be crowned” sung in the beautiful voice of the old troubadour, the two enemies, with tears in their eyes, asked each other's forgiveness and embraced each other like brothers.
Practical advice
