Paulina von Mallinckrodt (1817–1881)

A German laywoman born into a family of different Christian denominations, Paulina von Mallinckrodt overcame a youth marked by scruples and insecurity through a deep and confident faith.
Biography
She gathered other young women to care for the poor, the sick and, especially, blind children. She founded the Sisters of Christian Charity, dedicated to education and assistance. When the Kulturkampf laws expelled the congregation from Germany, she sought new mission fields in other countries without abandoning her sisters. His faith turned adversity into expansion of service.
