Peter Faber (1506–1546)
Priest
A Savoyard priest and one of the first companions of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, Peter Fabro was a teacher of spiritual discernment and patient dialogue in a divided Europe.
Biography
In Paris he shared studies and a room with Ignatius and Saint Francis Xavier; He celebrated the Mass and received the vows of the Montmartre group in 1534. He toured Italy, Germany, Spain and other territories by papal commission, preaching, teaching and giving the Spiritual Exercises. His humble and cordial treatment brought people from opposing positions closer together. He died in Rome when he was preparing to participate in the Council of Trent.
