Pedro Mártir Sans and Jordá (+1747)

He was born in Ascó, Tarragona, Spain.
Biography
He entered the Order of Preachers in the convent of Lérida. He joined the missions of China and in 1729 was named bishop. He was arrested in 1746 and after a long and harsh prison he died beheaded on May 26, 1747. His characteristic virtues were humility, audacity and missionary fervor. Beatified by Leo XIII in 1893, he was canonized by John Paul II on October 1, 2000.
