Martyrs

Biography
Pedro was born in 1796 and since he was a child he was distinguished by his humble and affable character. He was ordained a priest at the age of thirty and entered the Order shortly after. He took care of several parishes and his ministry was very beneficial. His contemporaries claimed that he was very assiduous in prayer. He was betrayed and imprisoned during the persecution of Christians and confessed before the judges: "I am a priest and in no way will I step on our adorable sign of redemption. If I have to die, I am willing to suffer death." In the space of three months he was interrogated and tortured several times. He went to the place of torture dressed in his religious habit. José belonged to the Third Order of Santo Domingo, practiced the profession of doctor, and was also a catechist. He was seventy-five years old when he was arrested; He shared prison with Father Pedro and was also tortured several times for refusing to step on the crucifix. During the interrogations he said: "I pray that you pronounce my sentence, so that I can die with my priest, Father Tu, and in this way, I will be extremely happy." And so he saw his wishes fulfilled.
