Pedro Poveda Castroverde (1874–1936)
Educator
His personality is associated with his pedagogical activities that led to the founding of the Teresian Institution (1911).
Biography
Pedro Poveda was a man concerned about the deplorable state of Catholic education in Spain, and in particular of women who, for him, have a fundamental role in the renewal of Christian life in society and in the family. His pedagogical ideas were far ahead of their time. He advocates the elimination of rewards or punishments: “No oppression, no fear, no excessive rigor, but no disorder either.” He was murdered, like so many thousands of priests, during the Spanish civil war.
Practical advice
Without seeking recognition, serve first those who need your time most and start again with humility if it doesn't work out for you.
