Pere Tarrés i Claret, priest (1905–1950)
Priest
Catalan doctor and priest, Pere Tarrés i Claret cared for the sick as images of the suffering Christ and trained generations of young people in the apostolate.
Biography
He practiced medicine with great charity, founded a clinic and actively participated in the Federation of Christian Youth of Catalonia. During the Civil War he protected the monastery of Montserrat, clandestinely brought communion to the persecuted and served as a military doctor. After the war he entered the seminary and was ordained in 1942. He worked in Catholic Action, health ministry and spiritual direction until he died of a serious illness at the age of forty-five.
Practical advice
Treat a sick person today with the same attention with which you would receive Christ: listen, accompany and avoid any rush.
