A Spanish nun born as Tomasa Ortiz Real, Piedad de la Cruz searched for years for the specific place of her vocation.
Biography
Two attempts at a contemplative life ended due to illness, but he did not interpret those failures as abandonment of God. Finally he founded the Salesians of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, dedicated to poor, sick, elderly and orphaned children. His perseverance turned closed paths into discernment. He understood that dedication to Christ had to take the form of active mercy toward those who suffered.
