Rolanda or Renelde (9th century)
Virgin
Daughter of Desiderius, king of the Lombards, Rolanda brought together all the virtues, as well as beauty.
Biography
Since her childhood she prayed to Saint Ursula and wanted to be a nun. Given in marriage by her father to the King of Scotland, she pretended to accompany the Scottish lords who were taking her to her future husband, and went to Cologne where she waited to enter the monastery of Saint Ursula. Unfortunately, she fell ill in Villers-Poterie, where she died in the house of the peasant who had taken her in. In 1103, the bishop of Liège dedicated a church to Saint Rolande in Villes-Poterie and processions in her honor continue to be held there.
Practical advice
Today, in the presence of God, teach a truth of faith clearly and lovingly with peace, perseverance and good humor.
