December 5
Sabás (439–532)
Monk
He was born in Türkiye and arrived in Palestine at the age of eighteen, where he was a disciple of the famous anchorite Euthymius the Great.
Biography
Palestine teemed with monks and hermits. The latter lived where and how they wanted, which encouraged idleness among them. Sabas remedied these abuses and became exarch of the hermits of Palestine. He also converted the Monophysitists, this heresy having practically disappeared from the country.
Practical advice
As an offering to the Lord, slowly read a short passage from the Gospel and end with a brief thanksgiving.
