Austrian Premonstratensian religious Jakob Kern was gravely wounded during the First World War.
Biography
He entered Geras Abbey wishing to make reparation for another religious who had abandoned his vocation, and he accepted a long and relentless illness with fortitude. His life became a conscious offering for priestly fidelity and the salvation of others. Saint John Paul II beatified him on June 21, 1998.
