Saint Restituta Kafka (1894–1943)
Religious martyr
Franciscan religious sister and nurse Restituta Kafka publicly defended the faith against the National Socialist regime.
Biography
She refused to remove crucifixes from hospital rooms, was arrested by the Gestapo, and after more than a year in prison was beheaded. She remained faithful to Christ to the end. Saint John Paul II beatified her on June 21, 1998.
