Most Holy Name of Jesus
Commemoration
The Church celebrates the Most Holy Name of Jesus because that name reminds us of the person and saving mission of the Redeemer.
Biography
No magical power is attributed to its letters: Jesus Christ himself is invoked with faith, whose name means "God saves." Holy Scripture teaches that at the name of Jesus every knee bows and that Christian prayer is directed to the Father through Him. Saint Bernard, Saint Bernardine of Siena and Saint John Capistrano especially spread this devotion; the IHS monogram became a visible expression of love and trust in Christ. Memory invites us to pronounce his name with reverence, seek comfort in Him and begin each work under his gaze.
Practical advice
Repeat today with faith the ejaculation "Jesus, I trust in you" and begin an important task by invoking his holy name.
