September 12
Most Holy Name of Mary
Marian memory
Every September 12 the Church honors the Most Holy Name of Mary, the Mother of God.
Biography
The Gospel preserves with simplicity the phrase "the name of the virgin was Mary" (Luke 1:27), because her name refers to a specific person, chosen to receive the Savior and collaborate freely with the work of redemption. Together with the name of Jesus, that of Mary awakens filial trust and reminds us of her maternal closeness. Benedict XVI taught that in her Christians find the face of a Mother who gives courage and always leads towards Christ. This memory invites us to pronounce his name with respect, affection and desire to imitate his "yes" to God.
Practical advice
Today, slowly pray a Hail Mary for a person who needs hope and tries to imitate the availability of the Virgin.
