Simon of Lipnica (c. 1435–1482)

A Polish Franciscan priest, Simon of Lipnica was an ardent preacher who crowned his ministry by dedicating himself to the care of the sick during an epidemic.
Biography
Trained at the University of Krakow, he joined the Friars Minor, attracted by the example of Saint John of Capistrano. He preached clearly, promoted devotion to the Name of Jesus and made penitential pilgrimages. When the plague hit Krakow in 1482, he remained with those infected until he contracted the disease and died serving them.
