On August 6, 258, Pope Sixtus II and four of his deacons were beheaded for having celebrated the Eucharist in the Calixtus cemetery, something prohibited by an edict of the Emperor Valerian.
Biography
They separated Deacon Lorenzo to torment him. Sixtus's name is included in the Roman Canon. They loved the Eucharist more than their own life: how do we appreciate the Eucharist?
