Sofia Czeska-Maciejowska (1584–1650)

Polish noblewoman, young and childless widow, Sofia Czeska renounced using her fortune solely for her well-being and dedicated it to the education of poor and orphaned girls.
Biography
In Krakow she founded the first formally organized girls' school in Poland and provided it with economic support, legal recognition and solid Christian training. From his work was born the Congregation of the Virgins of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. His charity was farsighted: he did not limit himself to giving alms, but created an institution capable of transforming lives.
