After spending long years in the East living as an anchorite, he traveled to Rome.
Biography
He went down to the circus arena where a gladiatorial combat was taking place and tried to stop the fight. There was quite a stir among the crowd, frustrated at not being able to attend the bloody spectacle. The event caused great scandal and Emperor Honorius I took the opportunity to ban gladiator combats in the year 405.
