Son of the noble Lord Marcard, who was nevertheless a highwayman, Theodoric realized on the same day of his wedding that he had a religious vocation.
Biography
Saint Remigius, bishop of Reims, commissioned him to found the monastery on Mont d'Or of which he was its first abbot. One of the happiest days of his life was when he saw his father arrive who had converted and asked to enter the novitiate. One of his most talked-about miracles was that of healing, just by touching it, Theodoric I's eye, which was completely damaged.
