Born in Kempen, Germany, his name was actually Thomas Hemerken and he came from a modest family.
Biography
The name with which he has passed down to posterity comes from his hometown. She entered the Congregation of the Brothers of Common Life at a very young age and spent most of her life in the convent that this congregation owned in Santa Inés. He became a novice master and worked most of the day as a manuscript copyist. He is the author of the very famous book on spirituality: Imitation of Christ.
