A Capuchin lay brother of peasant origin, Tomás de Olera went from being an illiterate pastor to a spiritual advisor to simple people and members of the imperial court.
Biography
He served as an almoner and doorkeeper, providing bread and comfort to all who were called to the convent. He learned to read and write within the Order and left spiritual texts born from his contemplation of the crucified Christ. Even when his fame reached rulers and nobles, he always maintained humility and direct contact with the people.
