Thirty Catholics from Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, gave their lives to remain faithful to the Eucharist and communion with the Church.
Biography
On July 16, 1645, soldiers and indigenous allies broke into the mass celebrated by Father Andrés de Soveral in Cunhaú and murdered those present. On October 3, Father Ambrosio Francisco Ferro, Mateo Moreira and numerous faithful were martyred in Uruaçu after suffering humiliation and torture. Among them were priests, husbands, fathers and young people. Matthew died proclaiming his faith in the Blessed Sacrament.
