Biography
He grew up in a peasant family and learned prayer, work and fidelity to the Mass from his grandmother. As the communist regime had suppressed religious orders, he lived an intense life of prayer at home, belonged to the Third Franciscan Order and the Militia of the Immaculate Conception, and traveled miles to participate daily in the Eucharist. On August 24, 1958, upon returning from Mass, she resisted sexual assault and was murdered. His rosary was found clenched in his hands.
