Vicenta María López y Vicuña (1847–1890)

Founder of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate, Vicenta María López y Vicuña dedicated her life to protecting and training young people who worked far from their families.
Biography
Born in Navarra and educated in a Christian home, she soon perceived her vocation, although she had to give up a comfortable future and overcome family resistance. In Madrid she learned about the vulnerability of domestic workers and offered them safe houses, human training, spiritual accompaniment and job preparation. In 1876 she founded the congregation with two companions. His work made each young person aware of their dignity and ability to build a full life.
