Biography
Sixty members of the Vincentian Family in Spain—priests, brothers, novices, Daughters of Charity, and lay people—were murdered out of hatred for the faith between 1936 and 1939. The groups are headed by Vicente Queralt Lloret and José María Fernández Sánchez. Dedicated to popular missions, the sick, education and the Miraculous Medal Association, they continued to serve in the midst of violence. In prison they prayed and encouraged each other, convinced that that suffering could also produce spiritual good. They faced death by forgiving and trusting in the Virgin.
