August 15
Vicente Soler and companions, Augustinian Recollect martyrs (+1936)
Martyrs
Seven Augustinian Recollects linked to Motril, in Spain, were murdered during the religious persecution of 1936 for their status as priests and religious.
Biography
The group was led by Vicente Soler, former missionary in the Philippines, superior and promoter of works for workers and youth. Deogracias Palacios, León Inchausti, José Rada, Vicente Pinilla, Julián Moreno and José Ricardo Díez gave their lives with him. Some died on July 25 and others, including Father Soler, on August 15. They remained united in prayer, forgave their persecutors, and freely agreed to die for Christ.
Practical advice
Pray today for a persecuted religious community and give up a comfort to support some work of evangelization.
