Wolfgang (927–994)

Bishop

This holy Austrian bishop often said he was grateful to his parents for having named him Wolfgang, that is, "he who walks like a wolf", but he added: "I only run after the lambs to feed them and not to eat them." After having been a teacher in Trier, he became a Benedictine in Einsiedelnn.

Biography

He was later appointed to the episcopal chair of Regensburg. Because of his zeal, his talents and the sanctity of his life, his bishopric left an extraordinary memory. This saint, kind and indulgent, completely transformed his diocese, and in a special way, the clergy. He is also credited with having given moral and spiritual training to Emperor Saint Henry II.
