Francisco Faà di Bruno (1825–1888)

Biography

Army officer, mathematician, university professor, inventor and finally priest, Francisco Faà di Bruno put his extensive training at the service of specific social needs. In Turin she created the Work of Saint Zita to protect and train domestic workers, opened a home for single mothers and founded the Minimum Sisters of Our Lady of Suffrage. She promoted the scientific education of women and built useful works with notable technical ingenuity. His life demonstrated that science, organization and faith can collaborate effectively on behalf of the most vulnerable.
