Matilde of the Sacred Heart Téllez Robles, founder (1841–1902)
Founding religious
Founder of the Daughters of Mary Mother of the Church, Matilde Téllez Robles recognized the face of Christ in each person in need.
Biography
From a young age she wanted to consecrate herself, although her father expected a favorable marriage for her and limited her religious activities for a time. With perseverance he united prayer, Eucharistic adoration, catechesis and material help to the poor and sick. She gathered companions to support a shelter and attend to both physical and spiritual needs. Her ideal was to make all of life an act of love and to form women available for the service of the Church.
Practical advice
Do a work of charity today that addresses both a material need and someone's spiritual loneliness.
